On October 22nd, 1836, Sam Houston was officially inaugurated as the first president of the newly-created Republic of Texas. If Martin Van Buren and William Henry Harrison, that year’s U.S. presidential candidates, had staged a foreign policy debate, would the Lone Star state’s imminent annexation be the first topic of discussion?
This about sums up my entire life: “Take Texas women for example. They tend to stifle their twang to avoid sounding uneducated. But they can use their accent to their advantage in business interactions when they want to exude an air of Southern hospitality, Hinrichs said.”
I know everybody thinks it’s important that today is San Jacinto day, but more importantly in Texas history, today is the 25th anniversary of my legal adoption! I made the judge cry because I was SO CUTE.
