What if the secret to success is failure? →
I’m going to continue to harp on this until I figure out what I want to do about making it a priority in our education system: you don’t have to be “smart” (academically) and you don’t have to be a “good student” (by which I mean “someone who can sit down and memorize a bunch of stupid stuff that doesn’t matter in order to ace a test that...

Go look at this photo. →
Flickr won’t let me share the actual image, but it’s too pretty not to try my best! It is SO GOOD. And I like that the image is in black and white instead of lame HDR/oversaturated color - still surreal, but not “done.” I don’t even know what I’m talking about. Summary: somebody (not me) took a really epic picture and you should look at it.

5 things about today: If you take the irritating screech of the caterwauling charm in the last Harry Potter movie, and combine it with the solid noise of having a foghorn blown in your ear, that’s the sound of the fire drill that woke me up at 8:45 this morning. Except for the brief bit of time I was out of bed for the fire drill, I slept until noon. I know it’s the jet lag, but...

The front entrance of the Refectory Today, I: Attended an international postgraduate orientation session. The support here for international students is really impressive. Got a student ID card and registered with a doctor (before freshers week started, so the queue wasn’t insane LOOK AT MY BRITISH WORDS). Learned how to get to and from campus from my residence, thanks to my flatmates,...
